The compliance calendar, decoded.

The dates, portals and checklists every Indian business asks us about — in one place, in plain English, kept the way we keep them for our own clients.

Be prepared

Checklists we hand every client.

The same four lists we send before we start work. Gather these and most engagements move twice as fast.

For most individuals, this is everything we need — one email, one return:

  • PAN and Aadhaar (linked to each other)
  • Form 16 from every employer during the year
  • 26AS and AIS from the e-filing portal — we can pull these for you
  • Interest certificates — savings accounts, fixed deposits, home loan
  • Capital-gains statement from your broker or mutual fund RTA
  • Rent receipts, if you claim HRA
  • 80C and 80D proofs — LIC, PPF, ELSS, health insurance — only if you opt for the old regime

Before we file SPICe+, have this ready — and know what follows incorporation:

  • At least 2 directors, each with a DSC — we arrange these
  • Two or three name options, in order of preference
  • Registered office address proof — utility bill plus NOC from the owner
  • A clear description of the business for the MoA object clauses
  • After incorporation: PAN and TAN arrive with the certificate; open the bank account
  • Appoint the first auditor within 30 days of incorporation
  • File INC-20A (declaration of commencement) within 180 days — before any business begins

A complete kit means registration in days, not weeks of query letters:

  • PAN of the business — or of the proprietor, for a proprietorship
  • Photograph of the proprietor, partners or directors
  • Principal place of business proof — plus NOC from the owner if the premises are rented
  • Bank proof — cancelled cheque or a recent statement
  • Business details — trade name, nature of business, top goods or services with HSN/SAC
  • Authorised-signatory letter, or a board resolution for companies

Incorporating abroad is the easy part — staying clean on both sides of the border is the discipline:

  • Decide the structure first — LLC or C-Corp, direct holding or subsidiary of the Indian entity
  • Check the ownership and funding route — LRS for individuals, ODI for Indian companies
  • Incorporation documents, registered agent and state filings
  • EIN application, then the business bank account
  • India-side disclosures — foreign assets in your ITR, FEMA reporting where applicable
  • A Form 15CA/CB rhythm for every remittance, set up before the first transfer
